Event Schedule

FRIDAY, December 12 – preliminary schedule

  • 15-20 Race office open and number tag collection – at the main building of Kiilopää.
  • 9-17 Race waxing: Bring your skis for race waxing and ski Kiilopää skiing on sliding skis! Race waxing will be done by the waxing master of Suomen Latu’s partner Vauhti. You can leave your skis to be waxed on Thursday or Friday between 9-17 at the Kiilopää rental shop. You can pick up your finished skis the next morning.
  • 9-15 Free gripwaxing for skiers in the tour series. Bring your skis ready to the rental shop and you can pick them up on Saturday morning. You can also bring your skis to the rental shop on Thursday.
  • On Friday evening, Kiilopää will screen the documentary Downstream about the melting of glaciers, which was released in 2025 in collaboration with POW EU and Icebreaker.

SATURDAY, December 13

  • 8-9 Race office open and bib pickup at Kiilopää’s main building. Only series changes and late registration will take place at the competition office.
  • 8- Pick up skis from the rental shop.
  • 9.00-9.45 Tour series start as a sliding start. You can set off at your own pace.
  • 10.00 40 km – Mass start for freestyle technique – competitive skiers in the front row, fitness skiers behind.
  • 10.10 40km –  Mass start for classic technique – competitive skiers in the front row, fitness skiers behind.
  • 10.30 Latuviitonen 5 km: mass start of free technique series – grouping for the start: competitive skiers in the front row, fitness skiers behind the competitive skiers.
  • 10.40 Latuviitonen 5 km: start of traditional technique series – grouping for the start: competitive skiers in the front row, fitness skiers behind the competitive skiers.
  • 12-14 Electric sauna available for participants.
  • 14-18 Smoke sauna and ice swimming – bring your swimsuit and towel. Smoke sauna tickets will be provided during bib pickup.
  • 15.00 Prize ceremony
  • 18-  Evening party:
    Local artist Henna K will perform live music
    Mikko “Peltsi” Peltola will entertain the audience with her interesting stories
    Henna K will be performing for the second time

    All skiers in the competition series will receive a soup lunch at the event center in Kiilopää after skiing. You will receive a lunch ticket when you pick up your number tag from the competition office.

    Skiers in the excursion series will be offered a tasty snack at the campfire site during skiing. After skiing, it is also possible to buy a soup lunch at the Kiilopää restaurant
